britmap

Terms of use

Last updated 21 July 2026

These are the terms britmap is provided on. They are short on purpose. By playing, you accept them.

What britmap is

britmap is a free daily map puzzle: five places a day, five guesses, one score. It is provided as it is, for entertainment. There is no guarantee that it will be available, that a daily will appear on time, or that your scores and streak will survive a change to the game. Nothing in it is offered as a reliable source of geographic or historical fact.

Acceptable use

Play it as a person would. Please do not scrape the site or its routes, play automatically with any script, bot or headless browser, submit guesses other than through the game itself, or otherwise interfere with the anonymous play log the difficulty curve is tuned from. Access may be withdrawn where any of that happens.

Intellectual property

The code, design, wordmark, copy and sounds in britmap belong to Charles Walker. The map is drawn from OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, used under the Open Database Licence (ODbL), and rendered with open-source software. The daily stories are drafted with AI assistance from editor-reviewed sources, and may still contain errors. Every attribution and licence britmap relies on is listed on the credits page.

Changes and withdrawal

britmap is a small project run by one person. The game, its rules and these terms may change, and the service may be withdrawn, at any time and without notice. Where a change to these terms is material, the “last updated” date above changes with it.

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising out of them or out of your use of britmap, are governed by the law of England and Wales and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.

Who runs britmap

britmap is run by Charles Walker. For anything about the game — including a correction to a story or a credit — email hello@britmap.app. A geographic address is available on request by email. For anything about your data specifically, see the privacy notice.
